  • The 33-year-old said her clothes always felt too tight and her body would ache
  • She set herself a New Years Resolution to lose weight with The Healthy Mummy
  • In just 12 weeks Sarah lost 11.8kg through consistent dieting and exercising
  • Now she’s never felt healthier and has noticed physical and mental changes

A busy mum-of-two who felt unhappy in her own skin throughout lockdown has lost close to 12 kilos in just 12 weeks and transformed her lifestyle.

Sarah Gibson, from Melbourne, was tired of trying numerous fad diets and not seeing long-lasting results, so she joined The Healthy Mummy community.

Dedicating herself to a New Years Resolution to lose weight, Sarah tipped the scales 71.5kg on January 1, 2022 and now sits at 59.7kg.

Since taking part in the 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge, the 33-year-old said she completely altered ‘everything she’s ever known’ about diet and exercise.

‘Intuitive eating has changed my life – I feel like I am finally in the body and mind I was born to be in,’ she told The Healthy Mummy.

Sarah said her clothes used to feel tight and her body would ache terribly that she knew something needed to change.

‘Like millions of others, I made a New Years Resolution to get “fitter, healthier and lose weight”, and for the first time in my life I stuck to it and it worked!’ she said.

‘It [the weight] initially dropped quite quickly but has slowed right down now. Funnily enough, the slower the scale moves the more change I see, so it really reiterates the fact that slow weight loss is far better for our bodies than rapid.’

Prior to joining she attempted losing weight herself and dropped three kilos, but didn’t feel like she was making any progress.

The 28-day program provided Sarah with the tools and meal plan needed to keep the weight off for good.

When it came to exercising, Sarah enjoyed the ’28 Days Stronger’ exercise routine with Natalia Melo.

The workouts focus on losing fat and building lean muscle with easy exercise routines that are perfect for beginners to follow.

‘I’ve just switched from the beginner to advanced and I can’t believe the difference from where I started to where I am now,’ Sarah said.

Sarah’s tips for losing weight:

1. Consistency has been the absolute key. Some weeks I lose, some weeks I gain, but I know if I stay consistent I am heading in the right direction

2. Remember to drink water – make sure you are hydrated and limit calories through drinks

3. Have fun! If you don’t enjoy certain exercises – change them. If you don’t like certain foods, eat what you enjoy and work out how they can become apart of your new healthy lifestyle

Since dropping the unwanted kilos, Sarah has noticed both physical and mental benefits.

She now sleeps straight through the night up to eight hours at a time (if her kids don’t wake her up), her mood is better overall and she has enough energy to do anything she likes.

‘Physically I am feeling the strongest and fittest I have in my entire life. I never thought I’d be one to look forward to exercise, and not only that but enjoy pushing myself to my physical limit,’ she said.

‘I can see changes in my skin, my face has lost it’s puffiness, my body has tone and I look in the mirror and see a happy woman looking back.

‘Mentally, I no longer struggle with food cravings and guilt for eating so called ‘bad foods’.’

Sarah added she suffers from Hasimoto’s Disease (an under active thyroid also known as hypothyroidism) and has tried ‘every failed diet under the sun’.

‘I can promise you that if I can do it you can too!’ she said.
